Swachhta Abhiyan in Kharsidag Village

On the 30th of January 2020, YWCA Ranchi, in a dynamic partnership with Mass Communication students from Gossner College, organized a compelling Swachhta Abhiyan in the picturesque village of Kharsidag. The event aimed to promote cleanliness, eco-consciousness, and sustainable practices within the village and the surrounding areas. The gathering featured inspiring speeches on the theme of “Swachh Hum Swachh Bharat,” delivered by YWCA members, which resonated with the attendees, fostering a sense of responsibility towards maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. The event was made even more delightful with an array of engaging performances, including Lok Geet (traditional folk songs), Nagpuri poetry, and Nukkad Natak (street plays), all focused on the theme of cleanliness. A particularly noteworthy aspect of the initiative was the distribution of free newspaper bags and handmade cloth bags to the villagers, encouraging them to gradually reduce their reliance on plastic bags and adopt eco-friendly alternatives. The program’s success was a testament to the collective efforts of YWCA members and the unwavering support and cooperation extended by Mr. Jura Pahan (The Pahan) and Mr. Hemant (The Pradhan), who played pivotal roles in ensuring the program’s success. With a remarkable total of 75 active participants, the Swachhta Abhiyan marked a significant step forward in fostering a cleaner and greener environment for the village.
